SOFIMA FILTER today proposes a new range of filters for LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas).
SOFIMA FlLTER is part of the UFI FILTERS Group that has always produced technologically advanced solutions to ensure the best performance in all types of engines, with a particular care to the environment. It now introduces new fuel filtration solutions for ecological fuels.
The first part released in the range of LPG/CNG filters developed by SOFIMA FILTER is identified in aftermarket with ref. S 1836 B. It is fitted in Original Equipment on LPG/CNG systems, suitable for various applications including the Fiat Punto Evo LPG, LPG-Opel Corsa D Tech, SEAT Ibiza V Dual, versions GPLine of Škoda Fabia II, Octavia and Octavia Wagon II, Roomster, Volkswagen Golf and Golf Plus BiFuelBiFuel, Touran. There are also other projects under study, suitable for other systems that will broaden the SOFIMA range during the year. Technically the new filter launched by SOFIMA FILTER consists of a separate, in-line filtering device positioned between the regulator and the injectors’ rail (low pressure) with the function to filter LPG in the gas phase in order to protect the integrity of the injectors.
The new filter has the following features: • Aluminium body produced by extrusion process of cylindrical form; • Low pressure losses; • Filter cartridge in "rolled up paper” with a filtration grade of up to 10 micron; • Rubber hose fittings for internal/external diameter 12/14 mm; • Maximum working pressure of 250 kPa; • Recommended replacement every 20,000 km.
LPG and methane are generally considered eco-friendly fuels, because they do not contain benzene or lead and their combustion does not emit sulphur, aldehydes and heavy particulates, which are present in ordinary fuels.
These types of fuels are responsible for only a minimal part of creating city smog, caused mainly by particulate and gaseous emissions from oxides of nitrogen. Considering the nature of the GPL itself, a mixture of butane and propane, a particular attention should be paid to the aspects of security, and for this reason the Ministry of Transport requires the observance of the current legislation. SOFIMA FILTER has therefore obtained the homologation according to European Regulation UN/ECE R67/01 class 2A. We recommend, therefore, to all installers the utmost attention to the use of filters, bearing the European homologation (there are unfortunately some filters sold on the free market without homologation), because in case of any accident due to a malfunctioning filter the owner of the vehicle could be involving the responsibility of the mechanic fitting it. |
